Frankton Spas

We provided bespoke structural engineering design services for spa pool units for Frankton Spas in Queenstown. The scope involved the structural assessment and design of spa pool support systems, including the design of supporting steel and timber framing, concrete slab checks, load distribution, and anchorage detailing to ensure the spa units could safely accommodate water loads, occupancy loads, and operational loads. Particular attention was given to load paths, deflection limits, and durability requirements due to the concentrated loads associated with filled spa pools and the outdoor alpine environment typical of Queenstown. We prepared detailed structural drawings and supporting engineering documentation required for compliance with the Queenstown Lakes District Council consenting requirements, ensuring the installations met relevant New Zealand building code provisions. Our involvement also included providing Producer Statement documentation and engineering guidance during installation to confirm that the constructed works aligned with the design intent and regulatory requirements.
